THE BILLY BOYS’ TRICK CORNER

RING’ AND EGG TRICK This trick is “most mysterious” if cleverly done and accompanied by bright “patter” of your own. It consists in borrowing a ring, wrapping it in a handkerchief, “disappearing” it, and finding it in an egg selected by one of the audience from several in a dish. To prepare for the trick, you will need a wedding ring, a button hook, a large egg cup, a little soft white wax, and a handkerchief. Sew the wedding ring into one corner.. of the handkerchief, as in figure 1, a'nd melt the white wax into the bottom of the egg cup. The wax need not be more than a quarter of an inch deep and will not be noticeable. Commence the trick by borrowing another ring; then shake the handkerchief to show that it is empty, hold-

ing it by the corner in which you have sewn the first ring. Now pretend to wrap the borrowed ring: in the handkerchief, but “palm” it and wrap up the first ring instead. Ask someone in the audience to make sure the ring is in the handkerchief, and; while this is being done, slip the borrowed ring into the wax in the bottom of the egg cup, setting it upright, as shown iu figure 2. Take back the. handkerchief, shajee it out, still holding it by the ‘corper iu which the ring is sewn to., show that the borrowed ring has vanished, and ask someone to give you one lof • the eggs. Take it and press it well down into the egg cup, thus forcing the ring through the shell. Break -the top of the egg and, with a button hook, draw out the ring. Rinse it in a ; finger bowl, wipe it dry, and hand it back to the owner.
