REGENT THEATRE: LAST NIGHT OF THE "COHENS AND KELLYS" The "Cohens and Kellys'/. will be screened for the last time to-night. Ihis great comedy has been the means of drawing large audiences to the Regent Theatre nightly, and there is no doubt it is one of the finest comedy dramas ever seen in Nelson. Charles Murray as Kelly, and George Sidney as "Cohen,' and Vera -Gordon and Kate Price provide most of the fun which is fast and furious. This picture must not be confused with the "Cohens and .Kellys" in Paris, or the Cohens and Kellys in "Atlantic City," but is an entirely new picture. The plan is at the Regent Confectionery. - "TIDE OF EMPIRE" AND "SKY HIGH SAUNDERS" TO-MORROW There are, at times, mighty dramas so powerful that one is at a loss to analyse the elements that go into them, and can only remain stupefied by the grandeur of the majestic whole.. Such a drama is "Tide of Empire," Peter B. Kvne's thunderous saga of the Argonauts of '49. This great picture, which Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer presents, was made on a scale as mighty as was the printed novel. It is even more appealing to the imagination than was the book itself. It starts with the old Spanish clays, when the Dons, "in peaceful grandeur, ruled over the new land of California. Then, at Sutter's Mill, pioneers discovered gold and set loose the horde of gold seekers that, in 1849, poured into the country, overthrew Spanish rule, and built a new era of progress on the ashes of a former civilisation. Renee Adoree and George Duryea head a notable cast in the huge production. Tliis great picture comes to the Regent Theatre to-morrow in conjunction with another special, "Sky High Saunders," starring Al Wilson, the screen's greatest stunt and trick aerial artist. This breath-taking, hair-raising Universal-Western airplane picture provides the great air star with every* chance to display not only his prowess as a stunt flyer but also his splendid acting ability. MAJESTIC: THREE BIG AT. TRACTIONS The main feature on the treble programme at the Majestic this week-end is "The First Kiss," which stars Gary Cooper, Fay Wrav, and Lane Chandler. It is a story of family pride and snobbery which is eventually broken through the hard striving of a lowly oyster fisherman. An appealing romance runs through the theme entwined with many adventures and mystery. Ken Maynard, the popular Western player, stars in the second feature. "Code of Scarlet," which dopicts the life of the Canadian NorthWest Mounted Police, and the thrilling deeds in the cause of justice. Another of the Music Master series showing scenes in the "Life of Richard Wagner," completes a fine treble bill. A new Universal serial has been booked for tho Empire Saturday matinees, and chapter one of "The Vanishing Rider," starring Bill Desmond, commences to-morrow.
