YESTERDAY'S BUSINESS ' A hill to provide a pension for the present and future Bishops of Nelson' was passed in Synod yesterday: The Bishop shall, if he retire upon .attaining the ago of 65 years or before attaining that age, if certified permanently unfit by the Pension Commissioners, be entitled to a pension of £SOO per annum. During the discussion on the bill many tributes were paid to the administrative ability of the present Bishop, and the sound financial footing upon which the diocese had been placed since his consecration. The house was unanimous in the passing of tho clauses contained in the Pension Fund Bill relating to the Bishop. The Cathedral Erection Beard reported that since the last session of Synod no further contracts had been let in connection with the erection of tlie nave, but work on the existing contracts has progressed steadily and satisfactorily. The F.C.M. Spire Fund now amounts "to £12,688 11s, and the Cathedral Fabrio Maintenance Fund to £1,941 15s 2d.
