LANDING PROHIBITED
FAMILY OF AMERICANS (By Telaeraph—Special to "The Mail") AUCKLAND, 'oOth July. If living been refused permission to land in Australia, 17 members of Xury family, which came from Honolulu on the Niagara with the intention of settling in New Zealand, are now on'the Aorangi returning lo their home. The New Zealand Immigration authorities would not issue a permit for the family to settle in New Zealand when they arrived mi the Niagara a fortnight ago. and the Australian authorities took a similar view of the case when they wont on to Sydney. The Niagara is laid tip for overhaul’at Sydney, and the family is returning to Honolulu oil the Aorangi. Members of the family hold that they have been badly treated in New Zealand and Australia, but one of Peter Xury’s sons volunteered the statement that they would attempt to settle in Canada, lie said they had been there previously and did not anticipate any difficulty in being allowed lo land. However, the family is hooked to go only as far as Honolulu on the Aorangi. If the -party decide to go on to Vancouver fares will have to be paid. At present they are travelling free of charge, their desire to see more of the world having proved somewhat costly to the Union Company. The Xurys are American citizens and their passports to New Zealand were vised by the British Consul ’at Honolulu, As’they were refused permission to land in both Auckland and Sydney the responsibility lies with the shipping company to arrange for their return.
