'SUSPENSION OF CONSTRUCTION (United. Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Australian Preas Association) LONDON, 30th July. The "Daily Telegraph" naval correspondent learns that in addition to the suspension of the construction work announced by Mr MacDonald in the House of Commons, the cruiser 'Exeter may not be completed. Construction of machinery and' high pressure boilers has been stopped. NAVAL APPOINTMENT (Received 31st July, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, 30th July. Sir Osmond Brock has been appointed an Admiral of the Fleet. Captain Dewar, formerly of the Royal Oak, has been promoted to Rear-Ad-miral and placed on the retired list. A DENIAL (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, 30th July. The Admiralty announces that there is no foundation for a statement which recently appeared in tlie press to the effect that the const ruction of the cruiser Exeter is not being proceeded with. The Exeter is one of the cruisers laid down in the 1927 programme. The two cruisers whose construction has been suspended are those of the 1928 programme.
