TIBER STRIKE

Following an attack by members of Ihe "Basher gang" at Ultimo, two volunteer timber workers drew revolvers, fired three shots, and held their assailants off until the arrival of the police, upon whose approach the strikers ran away. Tiie "Herald" published a statement by a timber worker whoso name was withheld in which he declares that the majority of the strikers are, on strike against their will, and that the union meetings were dominated by a Communist coterie whose aim was the destruction of legitimate unionism and the creation ot misery, lie said that no courage was needed in go on strike. The real test was the preparedness of a man to act according to his convictions and refuse to be terrorised by Trades Halt conspirators who received their orders from a 1 foreign country.
