TO ABOLISH ARBITRATION COURT FRANK STATEMENT BY MINISTER REPLY TO DEPUTATION" (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. Replying to an hotel 'workers' deputation, the Hon. W. A. Veitcli, Minister for Labour, emphatically stated that ho would not help any movement having for Us object the abolition of the Arbitration Court. He admitted that improvements in the constitution of the Court might be desirable. "We know that a strong .effort is going to be made tn abolish the Court, and I want to state frankly that I am not going to help that movement along. I want to see the Arbitration Court retained if I possibly can." The deputation preferred quite a number of requests. The Minister said the question of forming Dominion unions was one that involved a very big principle, and he was not at all sure that they seould alter the law in that regard. However, lie was quite willing to go thoroughly into the matter. He would go into the question of tho citation of parties. He was prepared to reopen the matter of a full day off, remarking that the request, on the face of it, appeared to be a reasonable one. Regarding '/emajes being employed after 10.30 p.m., the Minister said that unless there was a strong case against it he would have the matter fixed up.
