IS THE CLOCK TO GO?
THE announcement that a decision has been made to take down the tower of the Nelson Post Office must be viewed with consternation until the responsible authorities out lino somo replacement, scheme that will stall allow citizens to enjoy the convenience and handsome appearance otf a town clock which was purchased by public subscription some twenty years ago. Knowing the correct time of clay is such a universal necessity that the removal
of the hig clock will be felt by many people who at present hardly realise tho frequent uso they make of it, or the importance of having a standard time indicator visible and audible over as largo an area as possible. Perhaps tho erection of a similar tower on the brick building will not bo approved, but surely a dome at least could bo erected to safely house the city's chief timepiece.
