MANAGKMENT COMMITTFF. MEKT--ING At the weekly meeting of tin- Nelson Rugby Union Management Committee* fast evening there wore present Meartp.s (.;. I*, Russell,' vice president, in the dhair, S'. BenyoSi (Vvakatu), A. Kitehing (Rivals), li. Hogg (Pirates), It. Silcock (Schools), 11. lilincue (Old Hoys), 11. Brough (Referees), F. Hare (Hover), D. Fouler (Waimea), Li. Fowler (College), I). Mcrrett (treasurer.), and V. J. Lock (secretary). Mr Hare reported that influenza among team members was the cause of the Rovers defaulting against Old Boys. They intended to fulfil future engagements. A letter of thanks for the Union's vote of sympathy passed to the president in the illness of his daughter was received from Mr A. Max. The W»akatu Club asked for llie reclassification of H. Doidge from senior lo junior grade. The reclassification was granted. It was decided that next Monday he the final date for reclassifications. A Nelson Club request for reclassification of three juniors to third class was acceded to. A letter was received from the Pelorus Sub-Union for a match with thei Nelson junior representatives in the 1 event of Marlborough playing Nelson for the Shield. The matter was held over. The Motueka Sub-Union requested a third class representative team to play at Motueka next Saturday, a return match to be played at Nelson in the event of the Bays" playing Nelson for the Seddon Shield. The Union will recommend 17th August as date for match and the. matter of a curtain raiser was held over. The main difficulty in the way of meeting the request was the arrangement of fixtures. The Bulier Union confirmed the 10th August for their challenge for the Seddon Shield. The Bulier team is to , play West Coast on 3rd August, Golden Bay on 7th August, and Nelson on 10th August. The treasurer reported that the Union had £94 Os 7d to its credit at the bank. The College Club asked for a grant from the Union towards travelling expenses to the Collegiate tournament. After a lengthy discussion a grant of £2O. was made. The Old Boys Club asked for a third class classification which was acceded to. It was decided to hold the usual senior and junior seven-aside tournaments next Monday, (Spud Monday). A curtain raiser for the Bulier Shield match is to be arranged between College and a representative team from the rest of the junior clubs. A letter of thanks is to be sent to Messrs Hall and Coote for the use, of cars for conveying the teams to the Park. A vote of thanks was passed to the local team managers. It was decided that the representative players train on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings this week. Mr Brough gave notice of motion to move at the next meeting tha.f> the Seddon Shield dinners be continued.
