ON BRITISH MARKETS (United Press f "^ociation —Bv Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, 26th July. At the Fruit Marketing Conference at Sydney to-day the need for proper organisation if Australian fruit is to hold its own against American competition in the British markets was stressed. It was stated that whereas there was an enormous crop of apples in Australia last year the position would he reversed this year. Tasmania and West Australia were the only States with normal crops. Eight hundred thousand cases of American apples were marketed in England last Mav.
