Representatives of the Fisheries Departments of the Commonwealth met in conference to-day and discussed practical measures for the development of Australian fisheries, which are entirely unexploited with the result that the average Australian consumed only about 14 pounds of fish annually compared with 25 in New Zealand and 40 in Britain.

Mr 11. Gepp, chairman of the Migration Commission, outlined a scheme for resoarch, and committees were appointed to investigate the potentialities of the Commonwealth fisli resources. Mr Gepp added that Australians were fish hungry and fish starved.
