DOVEDALE
The annual fancy dress ball under, the auspices of the Dovedalo branch-of the Plunkct Society was held in the Dovedale Public Hall and was well attended despite most unfavourable weather. Mrs Canton and Mr L. Win judged the costumes, the successful ladies.being Misses J. Wadsworth (Witch) and Iv. Moran (Golliwog) and Mesdames V. Hawkes (Turkish Lady), IT. Win (Spanish Gtypsyi C. Burnett (Powder and Patches). The gentlemen’s awards fell to Messrs W. J. Laing (Viking), M. M. Win (Spanish Don), E. Win (Indian), B. F. Bennetts (Mephistopheles). A junior division was also represented, the prizes going to Misses Dolly and Fanny Win (Blue and White. Fairies respectively) and K. Win (Chinese), V. Martin (Minstrel). A special prize was awarded to Roddy Hawkes (Pixie). The thanks of the Society! atfe due to all who assisted with music, and the serving of refreshments, and to Mr iV. Smith, who wajs M.C, .
