SHOULD RE UNIFORM STATEMENTS PA' MINISTERS (By Telegraph—Prem Amwoiation) WELLINGTON, This Day. Agreement with the principle that till power boards should pay the. same rale for supplies of current was expressed by Sir Joseph Ward replying to a deputation representing the Waitemata and Franklin Power Boards which requested thai the boards they represented should receive 5 per cent, discount at present enjoyed by the Central Thames Valley and Cambridge boards. Sir Joseph Ward said he would obtain from (lie Minister of Public Works a return showing the effect of the discotniL if applied to all boards in the Dominion, lie agreed that all hoards should be uniformly charged, and he would go into the matter with a view to bringing that aboui if possible. As far as the could judge there was no reason why there should be any discrimination. The Hon. E. A. Ransom, Minister of Public Works, explained to the deputation <that since he had been in office he had not signed any contracts giving preferential treatmen; to any boards, and he did not intend to do so. Special concessions had been given, but. it was never intended that they should be permanent. He agreed that all boards should be placed on an equal footing in the matter of charges. Mi' Coates pointod oiiv that certain hoards had fieen granted a rebate, but there had been a general understanding that when the contracts were renewed they would he renewed on the same terms as the Waitemata and Franklin Boards.
