AN ERROR OF JUDGMENT
fTo the Editor) Sir, —Whilst il can be tordially acknowledged that in niiiking this appointment the Nelson Relief Committee acted for ibe host—the appointment, iievo!tl.?le.ss, in the opinion of most, is a grave error of judgment, and the sooner it is reviewed ihe better. Three guineas a day. plus expenses, and a free hand given regarding materials, etc., came a.s a shock to the public—a shock the public is si ill suffering fiom. No doubt it will seriously affect the receipt of subscriptions so badly needed, and to be expended with great care upon 'those of our people, deserving, and who have been so badly hit. The Government can, and will, appoint its owri overseers, and if the Public Works Department takes the matter in hand that will be sufficient guarantee. I am, etc., NELSONIAN.
