MILITARY TRAINING
CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTORS <Mr T«l«crEph—Pmm A«»o*Utio«) CHRISTCHURCH, 22nd July. The Christchureh Presbytery passed a resolution to-day expressing deep satisfaction with the steps taken by Cabinet to meet the churches' claims in regard to conscientious objectors. The Presbytery, however, feels compelled to call attention to the fact that the proposed preferential treatment of Presbyterian divinity students was never asked for by the church, and that it is quite contrary to the principles of the Presbyterian Church to have her divinity students regarded as a privileged class in the matter of military service. The Presbytery supports the Assembly's Public Questions Committee- in its appeal that exemption be granted to all persons whose conscientious objections to military service and training are certified by trustworthy witnesses, without discrimination between denominations.
