He toreed a corner, which went behind. Hurst sent Christinsim away, to 'give to Richards to score Nelson's first goal. Nelson 1, Alarlborotigh 0. Marlborough made tracks for the Nelson goal through llammil, hut one of the home hacks handled the ball. The referee, gave Marlborough a penalty. James took the kick and scored. Marlborough 1, Nelson 1. Richards gave Ghristinson a chance, but was robbed by James, who cleared up the field. Miller brought the ball back to the Marlborough goal, passed to Richards, then out to Smith. Kennedy cleared to Simmomls, who look the ball down towards the Nelson goal and shot past. Kennedy set bis Torwards away again, but these were driven back by Bourne, who gave to G. Smith to put into goal. Du Feu missed, with only tlie goalie to beat. The Nelson forwards were keeping tlie Aiarlborough backs busy at this stage. Twice more Nelson was close to scoring. The Nelson middle line —Aliller, Bourne and llurst—was too strong for tho Aiarlborough forwards. A. Smith punted to Hurst, who gave to Bourne, then to Christinsou to Richards, who finished tho movement by scoring Nelson’s second goal. Nelson 2, Aiarlborough 1. Aiarlborough, led by llammil, came again, Ahmeaster cheeking them with a punt to Aliller, who placed into goal. Andrell gave away a corner in trying to clear. It was cleared by Kennedy, who gave to Walker, who- shot for goal. A melee took place in the Nelson goal and ended in llammil scoring for Marlborough. Aiarlborough 2, Nelson 2. Bourne set Du Feu away, who shot for goal. The ball caught Andrell on the .body and passed into the net. Nelson 3, Aiarlborough 2. Simmomls brought the ball back to the Nelson goal, Hammil shooting into Smith’s hands. Hurst gave to Bourne .to Richards, who sent Du Feu through to score. Nelson 4, Marlborough 2. Half time arrived with the score unchanged. The second spell opened with several bright movements, in which Nelson had a slight advantage. Smith. Smith put in a perfect centre to- Ashworth, who punched it out to Richards, who scored. Nelson 5, Aiarlborough 3. The Nelson team was pressing when tlie final whistle blew. Wellington met Auckland at Blandford Park for tlie E.F.A. trophy. The ground was sodden and tlie weather showery. The local side was definitely superior in the first spell, and scored one goal, but deserved more. Wellington rallied in the second half and levelled matters with two goals. In the last few.minutes Auckland set up a strong attack and scored two more goals. The heavy ground had a tiling effect on tlie players.
