Shortly after dark the daughter of the proprietress discovered two men in her room investigating the contents of her handbag. After seizing one man, the young lady called for help. The intruder is alleged to have struck her with an electric torch and dashed away. With his son, the proprietor set off in pursuit, but the chase was futile, the intruder showing a turn of speed while the pursuers were hampered by heavy garments. The other man jumped through the window and escaped. Both were stated’to have entered the premises in a most casual manner bv the front door.
