Brown, married, aged -It) years, was killed while working in a Public Works quarry on t Lie Wairoa-Gisborne railway eoiistruetion works late yesterday afternoon. Deceased was engaged in firing shots high up on a slope when a large piece of rock fell from above and hit Ids head, Brown falling to the bottom of the quarry. A shot then occurred bringing down a fall of earth and covering the unfortunate man. When removed Brown was found to be dead, having evidently been killed by thi l piece of rock.
