GIRLS TO PLAY FOOTBALL
ASSOCIATION CODE TO BE PLAYED
.By Telegraph—Special to "The Mail ) ■ * AUCKLAND,' 19th July, v The social club of the Auckland hotel and restaurant employees formed a sporty branch three weeks ago, and it is now possessed of 360 active members. Amobg the most important and most enthusiastic of these are 34 girls who have decided to plav Association Football. A practice was held at the Domain yesterday afternoon,- attended by T 8 playei-s and another dozen were unable to participate owing to lack of equipment. The girls themselves had expressed the desire to play Rugby but were persaud-* ed'th'at the SdCcer code would be more suitable for them, and have now entered into l the'game with a will. Within .the next 10 days'it is hoped to play a match at b’ Blarißford / : .Park' between ' the restaurant -employees and hotel cm-: ployees as a curtain: raiser to a match between Barmen and Navy, the proqeeds from which- will be devoted to the earthquake fund. -
