THE REGENT: RAMON NOVARRO

Ramon Novarro, who has given the world the young hero of “Ben-Hur,” and many other historic roles of the screen appears at the Regent Theatre to-night in one of the meet interesting portrayals in his career, “Forbidden Hours”, his newest Metro-Goldwyn Mayer, starring vehicle. Novarro appears as a young king in a modern kingdom in Europe; a monarch facing present-day problems of the world with a deep love in his heart for a girl of the people—struggling against tradition, court intrigue, international diplomacy and even the political marriage that most kings must eventually face. On the same programme a second stellar attraction is a story of romance and adventure in Budapest, “The Gipsy Princess,” xVliich iis adapted from (the famous musical comedy success. It describes tlie romantic adventure of a young Priiicd who scandalises his parents by falling in love with a beautiful dancer. The plans for 10-night’s performance is at the Regent Confectionery. MARVELLOUS “METROPOLIS” “Metropolis,” the wonder picture from Ufa is coming to the Regent Theatre on Wednesday next. Costing over a million pounds to make, and occupying two years in its production, this picture has been hailed by the critics of two continents as the most marvellous yet seen upon tlie screen. MAJESTIC: THREE STAR PRO. GRAMME A splendid, bright treble programme is being screened this week-end at the Majestic. The main feature is “Just Married,” a sparkling comedy of newlyweds, filled with funny situations. James Hall and Ruth Taylor play the important roles. Mack Sennett’s latest comedy romance. “Tlie Goodbye Kiss,” starring Sally Filers, and a host of young screen players in a story about the east side of New York and the war, is the second picture. No. 5 Music Master series is the third feature, and depicts scenes in the lives of Haydn and Mozart, (lie two famous composers. Plans are at the Majestic Confectionery. The life story of Sarah Bernhardt- will be screened on Monday and Tuesday under tlie title; of “Tlie Divine Woman,” with beautiful Greta. During the war their ships are forced to draw fire on each other during the Great. Battle of Jutland. When the two fleets get to grips the audience experience thrill after thrill. “Danger Street,” starring Warner Baxter with Martha Sleeper, is a gripping drama of underworld life, and crammed with adventure' and excitement.
