The barman's familiar habit of sliding a bottle across the bar for custom- ] ers to pour their own "nip" is to cease. Within the next few months Chrislchiirch hotels will have patent measures on the bottles of spirits and customers will receive what the hotel proprietors consider a fair "nip," ol any of the spirits. This is the decision of the Christchurch Licensed Victuallers Association as Mr \V. Nidd, president of the association explained it to a reporter to-day. "The measured system, said an Xidd, "is coming to (hristchurch. Auckland and Wellington hotel proprietors adopted the system some while ago and if has proved satisfactory. It will lie two to three mouths 'before the measures are fitted as most lof them will be imported from England where the system has been in operation for many years and has proved most satisfactory to both hotel proprietors and customers.
