RUGBY FOOTBALL

SATURDAY’S TRIAL MATCH GAME WITH GOLDEN BAYMOTUEKA off Arrangements had been made by the Nelson Rugby Union to play the Golden Bay-Motueka representatives against the Nelson Seddon Shield team on Saturday, but the Bay team is unable to make the trip and so a match has been arranged with a combined Nelson team. The Seddon, Shield players have been putting in solid training during the last two weeks and on Saturday they will have their first match as a team. Their display against the team which has been selected to oppose them should show their real worth, and the actual playing practice should stand Nelson in good stead the following week when the West Coast team plays for the Shield. THE COMBINED TEAM The following players have been selected to oppose the Shield team on Saturday : Full back: Biggs. Threeouarters: Chapman, Cooke, Wefts. Five-eighths: Watson, Smith. Half: Russell. Wing forward: G. Wells. Hookers: Taylor. Dutch. Middle row: C. Newman, White. Ilollyman. Back row: C Goodman, Snowden.
