FINANCIAL AND ECONOMIC UNITED STATES’ POLICY A SCATHING ATTACK {United I’rcsß Association—Dj Eleotris Telegraph—Copyright) (Australian Press Association) (Received 18th -Tnly, 9-30 a.m.) LONDON, 17th duly. A scathing attack on the United Stales' imperialistic policy was made by Mr Benjamin C. Marsh, managing director of tiie Farmers’ National Council in the United Slates at a conference oil imperialism at C’axLon llall. Tie said: “The Monroe Doctrine was not conceived in altruistic sympathy with the South American peoples, hut with (he object ul reserving them for exploitation by the hand of the free United Slates, which had embarked on a definite policy, of world financial and economic domination. While most of the rest of the world was lighting for world trade and commercial supremacy in the years 19141918, the ruling classes, whoso capital was Wall Street, not Washington, were cold-bloodedly figuring out on which horse to put their money. Unlike Lord Beaconsfie.hrs opinion after the Crimea War we did pick the right horse as a sure winner, and then continued to ride both winners and losers.”
