Mr Alexander Legge, president of the Farm Board, lias announced that the first policy the new board has agreed upon, will be that of building up cooperative associations in order to eliminate the middleman., and bring tlie producer and consumer into direct contact. It is 'hoped that this programme will bring greater profits to tlie producer without increasing the prices to the consumer. In the meantime, in order to thoroughly study the co-operative system, tin? aiding of which through Government funds will be the chief purpose of the Farm Relief Act, members of the heard will meet the American Institute of Co-operation at Baton Rouge, in Louisiana, on 29th July.
