SENSATIONAL SHOOTING TeWrr.pfc--NAPIER, This Day. The New Zealand Gun Club’s meeting concluded at Longhands, Hastings, with the pigeon championship match, which had a sensational conclusion, li. Clinch (YVhangarei) and E. Groonie (Otane) tied with >2l birds and divided the slake of £ll6. They then shot off to decide the title and the contest went to the fiftieth bird before Groonie missed one. This is a record for the pigeon championship. Clinch has now won three championships—sparrow, claybirds, and pigeons—at different periods, as also has Groonie, and these two are the only shooters living with such a record. Clinch also annexed the troi«hv for the best aggregate, the runner up being If. Pratt (Otorohauga). Groonie has been runner-up for the championship three years in succession. Eight shooters registered 20 birds in yesterday’s championship, in which 57 competed.
