PROTEST FROM SCHOOLS (By Telegraph—Pxesß Association) AUCKLAND, 17th July. Strong objection is taken by the Aiicldand Education Board to police officers entering the schools of its district for the purpose of interviewing children. The board to-day expressed its attitude on the subject in very definite terms when it was complained by the chairman of the Whttu Valley (Whangarei) School Committee that a police officer iuul visited their school ■recently and insisted on interviewing a pupil without the presence of the headmaster. The latter laid refused permission lor the interview, and his action was approved by the hoard. -Mr Burns, the chairman, thought that no child should be interviewed except in the presence of bis parents or teacher. tie felt that in the present case tlu> officer had been over-zealoais, and lie did not think his action would he upheld by the Commissioner of Police. ’I lif hoard resolved to ask the t.'ommissioner to preveul a recurrence of such an incident.
