EQUALITY
WOAIEN’S DEMAND LAW AND PAY BERLIN, 21st June. Equal legal status for married and single women ; equal pay for men and women ; equality of the rights of parents in relation to children and marriage. Resolutions embodying these principles were unanimously supported by the Australian delegates to the Women’s International Suffrage Congress. The congress also urged the establishment of special courts for parents to settle questions regarding children, the latter s interests being the solo consideration in ’guardianship, divorce, or separation. All nations except the United States protested against restrictions upon married women as paid workers. -Mrs 13. AI. Rischbielh, of Western Australia, secondted a resolution that Brazil should be tile scene of the next congress, and that a speaker from* each continent should explain tiie progress of women there. Delegates were urged to promote the training of policewomen, whose value it was (contended had been proved in order that, where capable, they should fill responsible Government posts. The delegates who have been widely entertained, have been invited to a gala performance of the opera.
