DEBT AGREEMENT
APPEAL BY POINCARE (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright* (Australian Press Association.—United Service) PARIS, 16th July. M. Poincare concluded a long speech in the Chamber of Deputies on the debt agreement with the following appeal:— "Let us not expose ourselves to provoking further demands from Britain. Let us ratify the agreements which other Powers have already ratified." M. Poincare added: "If it is desired, let there be prudent frank reservations, giving this or another Cabinet the necessary power to defend at the international conference the cause of France and peace, which are more than ever inseparable." QUESTION OF CONFIDENCE (Received 17th Julv. 2.10 p.m.) LONDON, 16th July. "The Times'' Raris correspondent states that, making it a question of confidence, the Government won the firstdivision on the reparations agreement proposals in the Chamber of Deputies liv 404 votes to 239.
