WOMEN AS ROWERS
PLAN FOR ENCOURAGEMENT INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION LONDON, 7th July. Wiih the approval of Australia, Fiance. Germany and other nations, the British Women's Amateur Rowing Association has decided to form an international association to encourage and organise rowing among women. The chairman, Miss Gedge, contested Ihe view that rowing was essentially a man's sport. Women, she said, had definitely made up their minds to row. and an international association would be the best safeguard against abuse?. In reply to the association's invitations, n communication from Holland stateil that Dutch women were absolntelv restrained from boat racing.
