A number of settlers in the Okuru. district, South Wcfctland, waited on members of tho Government with a request that an item be placed on the Estimates to provide Tor tho erection of a wharf at Jackson's Bay and the completion of the road from Okuru to tha port. It was stressed that there was a. large area, of land waiting settlement and great timber resources to be exploited. An assurance was, given that tho matter would be taken into consideration when the. Estimates were being prepared; which would be in about six weeks.
