A meeting had been called for (his afternoon to consider the question, but taking advantage of the presence in Nelson, of the Hon. 11. After '.roing carefully into the matter the following resolution was passed:— That the Marlborough Progress League be informed that, relying upon the fact that the construction rf the main trunk lines was one of the main planks in the election platform of the party now in power under Sir Josenh Ward and in view of his declared inlent ion of loyally adhering to those planks, the Nelson Progress League refuses to cast doubt on the good faith of the Government by urging it to do v. hat it has promised to do and is actively engaged in doing. A copy of the resolution was landed to the Hon. Mr Atmore with the request that he place it before the Prime Minister on his return to Wellington. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Atmore for his attendance and a.ssistsnee.
