PERSONAL ITEMS
Mr G. C. Black. M.P., and Mr A. E. Davy, were met at Auckland station by members of the United Party organisation yesterday. The Junior United Politica.l Organisation entertained them and congratulated Mr Black on the part he had played in the recent earthquake disaster.
The approaching retirement is announced of Mr John R. Henry, manager of the Auckland branch of the Bank of New Zealand, who next month will complete 41 years' service with the bank in England and New Zealand.—Press Association. Among the guests at Wainui House are: Mr Justice Ostler, Mr 0. S. Meredith. Mrs 11. Puddle, Miss P. M. MrMurray. Mr Davies, Mr Wonldridge, Mr K. Oroom. Wellington : Mr and Mrs D. M. Eckhoff and children, Christeliureh. At the Presbyterian Church, Motueka after an inspiring address had been delivered by the Tit. Rev. Professor Howilson, Miss Meta Crichton was presented by members of the congregation with a gold wristlet watch, suitably inscribed. Miss Crichton, who leaves the district shortlv, has icted as organist for the -huroh for many years. The Rev. E- T. King, when making the presentation, spoke in appreciation of the faithful services rendered by the recipient. Professor Ilewitson endorsed Mr King"? remarks on the valuable work accomplished by women in the service of the church. ,
