SOVIET DEMANDS

SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES IE REJECTED (Australian Press Association.—United Service) (Received 15th July, 9.10'a.m.) MOSCOW, 14th July. A Note has been handed to the Chinese Charge d'Affaires proposing an immediate conference to regulate questions of the Chinese eastern railway; secondly, that the Chinese authorities shall cancel arbitrary orders regarding the railway; thirdly, the immediate release of arrested Soviet officials. The Note warns the Mukden Nationalist Government that it should weigh seriously the consequences of rejection of the proposals. In the event of a satisfactory answer not being received in three days the Soviet "will be compelled to resort to other means of protection of the lawful rights of the Soviet Republic."
