FATAL FIRE

WELL-KNOWN DANNEVIRKE MAN THE VICTIM -. . (By Telegraph—Press Association) DANNEVIRKE, This Day. A ■ fire, attended by fatal results, occurred in a five-roomed wooden structure in Gordon street last night, resulting in the death of Mr Richard Lane, a well-known resident, 80 years of age, who resided there alone. The fire was located in the kitchen, deceased's body being subsequently found there, much t burned. i. It is surmised that Mr Lane, who was (physically feeble and a former member of the fire brigade, tell' asleep while smoking and that the' ashes from his pipe caused the fire.
