FOUR HORSES IN SMASH AT MOORFIELD (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, 13th July. Results at the Moorelield .races were as follows: — Flying Welter, second division—Royal Duke, 9.3, 1; Nolensvolens, 8.12, 2; Quince, 9.5, 3. Eleven started. There, was an exciting finish. Won by half a iiead, half a head between, second and third horses. Time, 1.16 J. Four horses came down in a smash in the second division of the Juvenile Handicap. Claredo was killed instantly. Solesme broke a leg and had to be destroyed. Clardome was the first to fall, and the others galloped over it. The jockey, Bermingham, was sent to hospital. His injuries, arc not serious. Other riders were not hurt. MELBOURNE, 13th July. ./The Grand National Steeples resulted: Sandhurst, 11.4, 1; Mosstrooper, 9.6, 2: Seafit, 10.11, 3. Sixteen started. Ail went away well together. Mosstrooper and Flavel Light were first prominent, and led out of the straight. Sandhurst assumed charge at the fust fence and was never afterwards headed and soon had 12 lengths advantage from Flavel Light. Prarupa fell at the end of the first round. Sandhurst, which at one time was twenty lengths ahead of the field, Was only ten in front passing the stand followed bby Mosstrooper, Willanjie and Seafit. The last-named joined Sandhurst two furlongs from home, but the latter drew away. Mosstrooper however, came along with a good run and Sandhurst was hustled to win by a neck. Seafit was two lengths away and Willanjie fourth a long way off. Time, 6.8 f, a record.i Doutta Galla Hurdles—May Day, 1Q.7, 1; Kenllo, 11.1, 1: Hesley, "9.11." 2. Six started. Time, 4.16.
