MANDATE FOR NEW GUINEA REPORT TO THE LEAGUE , GENEVA; Bth July. ; The .Permanent Mandates Commission of the League of Nations began to-day an examination of the reports of the Ad-ministrations-of Nauru and New Guinea, the High Commissioner for Australia, Sir Granville Eyrie, representing the British Government in respect of the former and Australia in respect of the latter. Sir Granville said the Administration was apprehensive concerning leprosy, and was sparing no effort to effect its entire eradication. Cases had markedly decreased during the year, he said; the commission expressed*their gratification at this.
