At the half-yearly conference of the New Zealand Motion Pictures Exhibitors a great- deal of time was devoted ' to' 1 - -discussion on tlie “talkie” situation, both from the, film and plant ends, and as a result exhibitors, from. all parts of the Dominion were 'given a 4 good <}eal of information which should be helpful' in indicating, their individual theatre policies in respect 'tq,%qvyeyqlufciqiiary .change which has taken)-place in the. exhibiting ' end .offthe business in the .last few months.
; ..It", was- agreed that the , conference place on., record the ; .willingness of New ; Zealand exhibitors to. encourage the British film industry as shown .during the last six months by the,exhibition of a much larger proportion of British pictures than would have been required ,by the quota of the -Act had such been in force. . . • Attention was drawn to a certain form of salacious advertising, which, if continued, was certain to bring 1 about censorship of advertisements. The association was pledged to desist from advertising in the way referred to in the true interests of business, good taste, arid common decency.
