CHRISTCHURCH, May 6.

At the Addington market the entries in practically ail classes were smaller today, due, tci some extent, to the interruption caused to transport by boisterous feather. It was a ver ysound sale in all sections, with a shade of improvement for fat sheep and a pronounced finning for fat cattle. Store Sheep.—A small entry, comprising mostly back country wethers. The sale opened slackly, but improved surprisingly, there being a free sale. Forward lambs made from 26s to 27s 3d, ordinary 23s to 25s Bd, medium 21s 9d to 22s 6d, small 12s 6d to 21s, halfbred ewes 28s to 31s 3d, crossbred ewes 27s 9d, 2-tooth thxee-quarterbred ewes 395, 24, 6, and 8-tooth f-bved ewes 31s 7d to 355, 5-year-old halfbred ewes 365, forward 4 and 6-tooth 32s lOd to ?3s 3d, good 2-tooth Romney cross 335, 2-tooth halfbred wethers 25s 8d to 28s, crossbred 2tooth wethers 27s to 29s 3d. Fat Lambs.—A small entry of less -than 2000 and a- good sale. Extra prime lambs made up to 45s Id. prime 38s to 425, medium 34s 6d to 37s 6d, light 31s 6d to 345, store lambs 27s to 31s.

Fat Sheep.—A small yarding of eight races as against a normal entry of eleven. A better sale all round for good mutton, and an advance of Is to Is 6d per head on last week. Extra prime wethers made up to 565, prime 43s 6d to 455, medium 38s 6d to 425, light 33s to 38s, extra prime ewes 43s lOd, prime 37s to 40s, medium 33s 6d to 36s 6d, light 2§s to 335. aged 23s lOd to 2Ss.

Fat Cattle. —An unexpectedly heavy yarding of 505 head. Over the earlier and middle stages the market was hotter than last week by 30s per head, ■bmut. there was am easing towards the finish. Choicest beef made 41s per 1001 b. Good 36s to 38s 6d, medium 32s 6d to 35s 6d, light. 29s to 325, and rough down to 20s. Extra prime steers realised £lB 17s 6d, prime £l4 5s to £l6 15s, medium £ll 15s to £l4, light £9 to £ll 10s, rough £7 to £8 6s. extra prime heifers £l2 7s 6d, prime £8 10s to £ll, medium £4 10s to £7 10s, extra prime cows £l2 7s 6d, prime £7 10s to £lO ss, medium £5 5s to £7 ss, light £3 5s to £5.

—A small entry and a good sal«. Runners made up Jo £5 10s, good vealers £4 10s, medium- vealers £3 5s to £3 15s, good calves £2 to £2 15s, small 15s to 30s. Store Cattle.—A small entry, the only quotable line being some three and four-year steers, -which mad© £6. Daily Cattle.—A very small entiy. The demand for the cows at the drop was good. Best second to fourth calvers made, from £9 to £ls, medium £6 to £8 10s, best springing heifers £8 to £l2 10s. medium £5 to £7 10s. Fat. Pigs.—A good entiy and an average sale. Choppers made from £3 to £7, baconers £3 15s to £6 4s (average price per lb 6i,d to 7J,d), porkers £2 8s to £3 14s (average price 7|d to 9dh \ Store Pigs.—Easier prices than last week.
