Cabl» AAooolaHond SIDNEY, May 6 At the half-yearly, meeting of the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, the chairman raid that there would be a large exportable surplus if the mills were able to crush the cane. Most of the. surplus was already sold. For s t 1 1 e half year ended 31st March the nett profit'was £435,675 compared with £324.978 for the previous half- year. The latest earnings were made up ot £281,624 from the Australian mills and refineries and other investments subject to Federal taxation, and £154,051 represented the earnings in. New Zealand, Fiji and other investments ot. subject to Federal taxation. A dividend at the rate of 10 per cent per annum for the half year absorbs £240, 750 and a- bonus of five shillings per share takes £60,938. A sum of £IOO,OOO is placed to the reserve fund and the balance carried forward. ■ - - - - - .
