Important matters concerning the closing hours of shops were discussed with the Minister of Labour yesterday by a deputation representing the New Zealand Federation of Drapers. The employers want the closing hours on late nights and the number of late nights at Christmas and New Year altered, and the half-holiday on election .lavs abolished. The Minister holds out :o' hope of getting amending legislation passed by the present Parliament, and ninks that some other way out- of the difficulty ought to be tried.
