THE SICK AND WOUNDED SOLDIERS AND THEIR DEPENDENTS* FUND. THE ADJOURNED ANNUAL MEETING of Subscribers will be held An the Orty Council Chamlber on MONDAY, October 9t/h, at 7.30 -p.m.. In the terms of the resolution carvied on September 6th, a draft oS proposed rules will be submitted for consmeratdort.. The more important provisions of the draft rules are : OBJECTS. 2. The Objects of the Association shall be:— (a) The relief and benefit of sick, wounded or incapacitated soldiers and their deciendents and the dependent of any soldier who may have been killed or have -died from! wounds or sickness. The expression "soldiers" shall meant and includes soldiers, sailors and auxiliaries from the Nelson District who are or at any time have been during the present war, (1) Members of any N.Z. Land! or Naval Forces. {2) Members of the N.Z. Am'bulance, Auxiliary, Nursing/ or cognate service. ' ' (3) Members of ilie Im/peria;! Army ov Navy, the Australian or other State or Dominion) Forces, their Ambulance, Auxiliary, Nursing or cognate Forces, who may return ■to xeside - temipoxarily or perma-

men-ty in the Nelson) District. The term "dependent" • shall- mean,the wife, widow, or child, lather, mother, brother or-sister of any "soldier 'or deceased soldier who was at any time before or after the enlistment ; of such soldier: provided! that, «xc€<pt in the case of a -widow, mother or. child, no dependent shall receive any relief or assistance from the funds of the Association unless such -dependent as at the time of making application for the same, himself or herself sick or incapacitated', or otherwise wholly or irt part unafole to earn his or her own living and 'has a claim upon such -soldier for maiintenance at the time the claim is made, or would have had such claim on a decea-sed "soldier from Nelson 1 District" shall mean and include : (a) Adl soldiers who enlist directly from ' the' Nelson District. (b) All soldiers -whose homes, or whose parents' homes are in the Nelson District, -who enlistedi elsewhere, .provided that such soldier has no permanent settled home of his; own elsewhere, than in the Nelson District. (c) Such soldiers whom the .Advisory Board consider to come reasonably though' not exactly within (a) and) (b) hereof, iptrovided that except in exceptional cases, of which the Advisory Board shall he the sole judge, no soldier or his dependents shall receive any benefit from this Fund if he or they aire receiving benefits from! the funds of any other district.

ALTERATION OF CONSTITUTION. 13.
