Iron Duke, Augu.-st 4th : —'F have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of June 17th. 1916, in which you in form me of a resolution passed by the City Council of Nelson on June 16, 1916, in regard to the Grand Fleet. I shall be glad if von will have conveyed to the members of the Council and citizens of Nelson the grateful thanks of the oilieers and men of the Grand Fleet for this message from our fellow-country-men across the. seas, whoso brothers have set such a brilliant and lasting example of heroism with our forces on shore, and we are proud to have- with us in the Grand F!e,-t His Majesty's ship NewZealand and all -who serve in her. The warm tribute to our gallant comrades, who have f.dlen "in action is greatly appreciated by all ranks, is'the kindly thought- which prompted the sending o'f the. resolution from the Citv of Nelson."
