MURCHISON. I OBITUARY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) On Saturday, the 23rd inst., another old identity of CMurchison district passed away-—Mr" George Alexander 'Edwards, •who* had been staying with his daughter, Mrs Dwan, of Owen Junction. Mr Edwards was well known throughout the Kelson district, having .been in business ■at, various places for a good number of years at "blacksmith, etc.. and' recently j resided in "Kelson, but came to stay with* j his daughter at.the Owen Junction some few weeks ago. The deceased was 66 ; years of age. - The funeral took place at the Murdhisoh. Cemetery on Tuesday, the 26th inst., a very large num-er of friends and settlers "of the district being present. The Rev. \Y. Alexander, of Murchiscn, of.ficiated. FLOWER SHOW. The first ,fiow=r show in Murchison was held- some five years ago, "and the second show was held in Thomason's Kail on Saturday, the 23rd, and, considering the short notice, or announcement, was a decided ; success: There was a very good display of bulbs, blooms, and cut flowers. Tne exhibitors are to be commended* on- the quality of their respective exhibits, and we vesture to Say that had the show been better advertised, there would have been far more entries and inore public interest, although a fair-ly-good number patronised: the show. Great ciredit is due to Mr F. A. Clayton, wijo took the initiative, and practically arra-cged the show, with the assistance of a i*£w friends. Messrs AY. F. Doney, F. A. Clayton and J. McCarthy were the principal exhibitors, and* some of the exhibits of Mr Doney would have scored in any show, Mr Doney being an enthusiastic "horticulturist. Mr Clayton announced during the evening that another show would be held about the .middle of December, and no doubt general interest will be taken in the December show, especially in the Tose and sweet pea classes. A meeting will pro•bably .be cailed.to form a show committee, when it is to be hoped all enthusiasts will, attend-. The following is the prize list: — * Best coiieciiion Cut Flowers: Miss D. The above Company commenced active operations on the 18th September, improvements having been effected both inside and outside of the factory, of the machinery has been replaced with more up-to-date plant, and Mr Dinwiddle, the anticipates a much larger output daring the coining season.
