Mrs Emerson, of Waimea-street, has received word that her Bombardier J. Emerson, of the Field Artillery,, has been wounded in the shoulder. AVord was received .in Nelson yesterday that Private William Sowman, son of Mr Arthur Sowman, of Nelson, was killed.in, action on September. 15th. A Sydney Press cable announces the death of Brother Thomas Kemp, Grand Secretary of the Oddfellows for New South Wales. 1 Lieutenant Stone, of Nelson, who was invalided home, has how recovered, and went to Wellington to-day to go into camp. The golden wedding of Mr and Mrs Thomas Halstoad. Harlev. celebrated, at "Willowhanlc," Hardy-street, yesterday, was very largely attended.. The gathering was a. happy one, and .many speeches and felicitations were made. . Messages of congratulation we're received from various parts of 'the Dominion, and there were also some cablegrams and a wireless message. A num'ber of citizens either personally left or forwarded congratulations.
