HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT.
The Department of Agriculture. Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated London. 23rd September, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand. (Note. —Quotations, otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot.) Moat.—Lower prices are 'being quoted j for Argentine mutton and lamb owing [to increasing supplies of Patagonian. There is less demand for ewe mntton, but a good demand for New Zealand lamb. New Zealand mutton, per lb, B|cl : ewe mutton. Danish, salted, per -wt. 200s to 204s : Irish creamery, 188s to 190s : unsaited. 190s to 1925: Canadian, salted. 185s to 188s : New Zealand, salted, 190s to 192s ; Argentine, unsalted, 188s - States ereamerv. salted. 180s to 184s. Cheese. —The market is quiet but steady, generally in sympathy with cheese position in Canada, where continued heavy buying en account of Government is reported. Canadian, white, 105s to 107s ; coloured, 105s to 107s ; English' cheddar 114s to 116s : New Zealand, the mnrket is steady, with fair demand at current prices. White, 104s to 106s; coloured. 104s to 106s; States flats, white 102s to 105s. Hemp.—The market is quiet but firm. Good fair N.Z. hemp, per ton, £SO; fair. £4B: Government qraded fair Manila, £52: coarse. £49 fOs : OctoberDecember shipment, trnod fair N.Z., 549 10s : fair, £47 10s : Government graded fair Manila, £sl 10s ; coarse. £4B 10s. The output of hemp at Manila for the week ending last Saturday was 23,000 bales. Wheat.—The market is" quiet; prices are slightly weaker. Canadian arrived, 66s 6d; October-November shipment, c .ss ; Australian shipment in October, CBs. Oats. —The market is quiet, but steady, Argentine, on spot, 325.
