ENEMY ASSAULT REPULSED
HEAVY LOSSES SUSTAINED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Rec. Sept. 27, 11.45 a.m.) PETROGRAD, Sept. 26. A oomunique says : —We repulsed an assault by two battalions northward of Lake Kaldytcher. We inflicted great losses. A GERMAN COMMUNIQUE. (Rec. Sept. 27, 12.10 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 26. A German communique says :—The Russians six times assaulted and failed at Manajow. The Roumanians captured the frontier heights astride the ridge between the Szurdak and Vulcan Passes. The garrisons of the passes repulsed all attacks, but were withdrawn. The Bulgarians were successful on both sides of Fiorina.
