M. VENEZELOS IN CRETE
LEADING THE NATIONAL MOVEMENT. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association./ SALONIKA, Sept. 26. ' l _M: Venezelos has gone to Crete. He will later visit Mitylene, Chios, and ■ Samos. He will issue a proclamation to the Cretans placing himself at the head of the National movement to provide a last opportunity to the Crown and the Government to place themselves in line with the majority of the Greek people. There will be no declaration of the dethronement of King Constantine. M. Venezelos will call a general mobilisation of the Cretans for the purpose of national defence. M. Leonidas Em'bericos, a shipping millionaire, placed his whole fortune at the disposal of the National movement. GENERAL JOINS THE REVOLUTION ! (Rec. Sept. 27, 12.10 p.m.) ATHENS. Sept. 27. General Soannon, commandant of thq. Corfu garrison, lias departed for Salonika, participating in- the revolution.
CHIEF OF GENERAL STAFF RESIGNS. (Rec. Sept. 27, 1.5 p.m.) ATHENS, Sept. 26. General Moschopolous, Chief of the General Staff, has resigned. Everything indicates that the Government will not last long.
