MACEDONIAN FRONT
BULGARIAN ATTACK THROWN BABK LIVELY COMBATS. (Australian N.Z. Cable Association.) {Rec. Sept. 27, 11.55 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 26. A French communique says:—There were lively bombardments and skirmishes on the Struma and Vardar, and" especially on the English front at Doiran. East of Fiorina we magnificently resisted a Bulgarian attack, throwing them 'back in disorder. West of the Fiorina the Russo-French forces are engaged in lively combats. VIGOROUS ALLIED OFFENSIVE AT FDORINA. MOST SATISFACTORY RESULTS SECURED. (Reuter's Telegrams.) LONDON, Sept. 26. Reuter's Salonika correspondent reports that the Allies began a vigorous offensive in the neighbourhood of Fiorina on Sunday. It was continued all day with the most satisfactory results. The Russians captured an important hill and the French occupied a village. The Serbs crossed the frontier north of Krusograd, ibut are encountering fierce opposition at Verbeni.
A GERMAN COMMUNIQUE. (Australian and N".Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, Sept. 25. A German communique says : "Serbian attacks at Kajmaklan broke down. Weaker English advances oh a -wide front on the Struma were repulsed." ENEMY FALLING BACK ON STRUMA FRONT. (Australian and N.Z. CaJble Association.) (Rec. Sept. 27, 11.35 a.m.) The War Office states that at Salonika the French artillery upon our Struma front shelled Caravka, compelling' , the ' enemy to move one of the camps. Our patrols made successful raids on the Doiran front. Hostile artillery and aircraft are showing- considerable activity.
