Mr H. Rowe has received a cable stating that his son, Private N. Q. Rowe, is convalescent at Hornchurch Hospital. Mr J. Pollock*, who is leaving Nelson to take up. his residence at Dunedin,' was the recipient of a case of pipes from, his colleagues on the Council of the Nelson Acclimatisation Society. Mr Pollock succeeded the late Mr 0. W. Han'by as 'Chairman of the Council, and retained the position till now. He has heen'connected with the Society for over 35 years and during that long period, has reri- r dered valuable service in regard to acclimatisation matters generally. His departure is regretted by members of the Nelson Society, a letter of introduction! to the.
