PALMERSTON NORTH SHOW
Our columns again chronicle another of these important events at Palmerston North. The dates set down are Noverber Ist, 2nd, and srd. These three days will be chock full and brimming over with interest, amusement, and education, to those of your readers who can find the time and opportunity to pay a visit to the Show. The prize schedule has been drafted in the broad and generous style for which the Committee of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association is noted. It is characteristic of that body to assist and encourage our export industries, which, are of course mainly agricultural and pastoral. Its scope, however, does not stop there, and we are pleased to notice an endeavour to help along the hemp industry. This is an industry that had not been long dealt with at Palmerston North Show, but it is growing, and exhibits are becoming more numerous. The Com mittee has now increased the classes with very good prizes. The Manawatu Kennel Club's Show will be held as usual in No. 3 Hall of the Main Exhibition buildings. Encouragement is extended to breeders of Aberdeen Angus cattle, one of the finest beef breeds. A 25 guinea Cup is offered by Mr Frank Armstrong of Akitio for competition with the object of helping to popularise this breed of cattle. The handsome and spacious new cattle pavilion erected last year at a cost of £4OOO, has relieved exhibitors of valuable animals of all fear of bad weather, and should conduce to very large entries in the pure-bred catHe division. We have not space to renew the whole of the schedule which 'overs ring events, horses, cattle, sheep, oigs, fat stock, b,emp, home cookery, art needlework, photography, art, technical and public schools work, wool classing, fleece wool, horse shoeing, etc. Copies may be had from the secretary, Mr W. T. Penny, Box 85, Palmerston North.
